 26. Oktober 2012 – Das HS RallyeTeam nimmt die Rallye Dakar erstmals in einem Allrad-Prototypen in Angriff: Im SAM-Mercedes wollen Matthias Kahle und Dr. Thomas M. Schünemann ihre persönliche Bestleistung, den zehnten Gesamtrang im Jahr 2011, noch einmal verbessern und gegen die favorisierten X-Raid-Mini und Overdrive-Toyota für Überraschungen sorgen.

Pharaons Rally final day

Die letzte Prüfung der Pharaonen Rallye 2012 über 425 km erhielt durch einen Schaden vom Vortag nochmal eine besondere Brisanz. Während der fünften Etappe traf man mit der Vorderachse einen Stein so hart, dass das Team in der Nacht eine größere Beschädigung als angenommen feststellen musste. Nach einer Extra-Schicht bereitete das Team den SAM für den Schlusstag vor und entschloss sich, auch die letzte Etappe in Wertung zu absolvieren. Diese Entscheidung wurde belohnt, denn die letzte Prüfung verlief für unser Team ohne weitere Probleme. Belohnt wurde die fehlerfreie Fahrt mit einem 8. Platz der Tageswertung. Im Zielbogen vor den Pyramiden von Gizeh konnte das Team Ilya Kuznetsov/Roman Elagin damit den 11. Gesamtrang, den 8. Platz in der Gruppe der Prototypenfahrzeuge und den 3. Platz der Allradfahrzeuge mit Dieselantrieb entgegennehmen…

The last stage of the Pharaons Rally 2012 over 425 km became a very special one because of a race-accident of the day before. During the fifth stage the crew had an impact with a big stone and damaged some parts of the front axle. During the assistance in the night it turned out that the damage is greater than the team expected. After a couple of hour’s work, the mechanics prepared the SAM for the last day, and made the decision to start in the final stage. After the finish line in front of the amazing Pyramids of Giza the reward was the 8^th position overall in today’s stage. Finally our team Ilya Kuzbetsov and Roman Elagin claimed the 11^th position in the overall result and the 3^rd place in the class T1.2 …

Pharaons Rally Day 5

Am heutigen Tag wurden die Platzierungen wieder einmal gut durchgemischt. Auf der 422 km langen Spezialprüfung wurde vor allem den Navigatoren in den Crews alles abverlangt. Noch vor Way-Point 1 gerieten fast alle Top-Fahrer vom rechten Weg ab und verloren auf der Suche nach der richtigen Strecke wertvolle Zeit. Auch das SAM-Team wurde nicht verschont und verbrachte einige Zeit damit sich wieder zurecht zu finden. Der Rest der Prüfung lief für uns problemlos und wurde mit einem 9. Platz der Tageswertung abgeschlossen. In der Gesamtwertung bedeutet das nun den 14.Platz, wobei das Team den 2. Rang in der Klasse abgeben musste. Das Ziel für morgen heißt demnach angreifen und eine fehlerfreie letzte Etappe absolvieren, um den zweiten Platz der Diesel-Wertung wieder zurück zu gewinnen…

Again the positions during the todays stage changed quiet a lot. In the first part of the 422 km-stage the navigation was very difficult for everyone to find their way, with many navigational errors being committed. Almost all teams suffered in problems and lost many time due to find the way back on track. Also our SAM-crew lost time by searching the correctly track to the way-point 1. After the team leaves this problem behind, the remaining stage was without any problems and the crew finished on 9th position of the daily result. In the overall standing Kuznetsov/Elagin hold the 14th place and lost the second place in the category of 4×4 diesel engines. But the gap is not that big and tomorrow during the last stage it’s enough time to tackle back and claim the 2nd place of the class again…

Pharaons Day 4

Die heutige Sektion rund um das Biwak „Abu Mingar“ war in zwei Teilstücke geteilt, wobei vor allem der zweite Abschnitt mit schwierigen Dünenabschnitten aufwarten konnte. Auf dem ersten Teilstück setzten sich Ilya Kuznetsov und Roman Elagin unter Top Fünf fest und führten die Dieselwertung an. Nach der Verbindungsetappe wendete sich das Blatt und abermals sorgte ein Dünenfeld für einen ungeplanten Stopp und herben Zeitverlust. Nachdem sich die Crew befreien konnte, verbesserte sie sich vom zwischenzeitlichen Platz 12 bis ins Ziel noch auf Platz 10 der Tageswertung.In der Gesamtwertung steht das Team nunmehr auf Rang 15. Morgen beginnt mit der 5. Spezialprüfung die Reise zurück nach Kairo, wo am Samstag der Zieleinlauf stattfindet…

Todays  most difficult part of dunes was waiting in the second section of todays stage. During the first part of the stage the team Ilya Kuznetsov / Roman Elagin snatched the fifth place and leads the category of 4×4 diesel engines. After the break the team was stuck in the dunes again for a long time and drops down to 12th position. After the crew gets out of the dunes, they catched back some places and finished on 10th position of the daily result, what means the 15th position in the overall standings.Tomorrow the return to Cairo will start with the 5th stage…

Pharaons Rally Day 3

Ilya Kuznetsov und Roman Elagin erreichen auf dem 10. Rang der Tageswertung das heutige Etappenziel. In der dritten Sektion über 582 Gesamtkilometer fuhr sich das Team in einem Dünenfeld fest und büßte gut eine Stunde ein. Nach gutem Start fiel der SAM durch den ungeplanten Aufenthalt in den Dünen vom 7. Platz auf den 14. Platz der Tageswertung zurück, konnte sich aber im Verlauf der Prüfung wieder nach vorn kämpfen. Nach einer Strafe von 4 Stunden durch die gestrige Verspätung wird sich allerdings an der Platzierung in der Gesamtwertung nicht mehr viel ändern. Dort liegt das „Team Russia“ momentan auf dem 22. Rang und behauptet den 2. Platz in der Dieselwertung für 4×4 Fahrzeuge. Morgen steht den Teams mit 530 Gesamtkilometer eine Schleife rund um das Biwak in Abu Mingar bevor…

Ilya Kuznetsov and Roman Elagin finished on 10th place the stage 3. In the hard third section over 582 km distance the team stuck in a field of dunes and worked hard to get the SAM back on track. Finally they lost more than one hour in the dunes and dropped down from 7th to 14th place in the daily results. But they didn’t stop  fighting  and earned the 10th place in the daily results. After a 4 hours penalty for the late arrival during the section yesterday, the overall standing don’t changes that much. Actually the „Team Russia“ team holds the 22th place overall and claims the second place in the class of 4×4 diesel cars. Tomorrow the competitors have to race over 530 km distance in a circle around the bivouac „Abu Mingar“…

Pharaons Rally: Day 2

Der zweite Tag brachte für Ilya Kuznetsov und Roman Elagin viel Arbeit und extra Schichten im kargen Wüstenland der Pharaonen. Noch bevor sie den ersten Way-Point erreichten, streikte der SAM bedingt durch einen technischen Defekt. Mitten im Niemandsland ließ sich die Fahrercrew jedoch nicht unterkriegen und bekam nach gut 4 1/2 Stunden ihr Einsatzfahrzeug wieder flott. Das Feld wurde zwar nicht von hinten aufgerollt, dennoch durchfuhren sie die komplette Sektion. Vom 29. Platz in Check-Point 1 konnte man sich dennoch bis auf den 26. Rang der Tageswertung vorkämpfen. Morgen stehen 430 km Renndistanz auf dem Plan der Teilnehmer, wobei die Route vom Biwak „Tibniya“ zum neuen Biwak nach „Abu Mingar“ führt…

The second day reserves a lot of work in the hot desert for Ilya Kuznetsov and Roman Elagin. They were in the middle of nowhere, right before arriving at CP 1, when a technical breakdown of the SAM stopped them. But they tried their very best and after more than 4 hours they finally fixed the problem and were back in game. The team continued the leg and crossed the finish line of the second section with a huge gap to the top places. Finally the team did a great work and finished on 26th place overall.For the third leg from „Tibniya Bivouac“ to the bivouac „Abu Mingar“ the competitors has to race tomorrow over 430 km distance…

Pharaons Day 1: Impressions

Ilya Kuznetsov und Beifahrer Roman Elagin erreichen auf der ersten Tagesetappe der Pharaons Rally 2012 den 8. Rang der Tageswertung mit einer Fahrzeit von  3:15 Stunden ohne Probleme. Morgen werden ab 9:00 Uhr die Fahrer die zweite Sektion durch die Wüste in Angriff nehmen, diesmal mit Start und Ziel im heutigen Biwak. Im Folgenden einige Impressionen des ersten Tages…
