The Russian T2 World Champion of 2011, Ilya Kuznetsov lines up alongside his co-driver Roman Elagin at the start of the Italian round of the off-road series at the wheel of the SAM 35 CC, prepared and run by the German SAM – team.
“We’re proud to support such an expired and successful crew throughout the Baja and are quite confident to aim a good result in this demanding race.” said SAM-boss Sven Knorr before the event.
The team left the workshop today to have a first little shakedown in Italy to give Ilya a first view of the performance of the car.
“The car was re-build through the last weeks and the rollout went very well. So we are best prepared to face a very interesting competition around the north-east of Pordenone.”
The provisional line-up includes former WRC star Toni Gardemeister, twice former Dakar winner Jean-Louis Schlesser, the talented Russian top seed Boris Gadasin and the likes of Czech off-road star Miroslav Zapletal and Dutchman Peter van Merksteijn.
Forty-six cars grace the provisional international entry list, with motorcycles running in the FIM category, trucks and an Italian national car category boosting the impressive entry still further.
The meat of the action will take place over two legs – Saturday and Sunday – over some of the most challenging mixed-surface terrain in northern Italy.
