Ilya Kuznetsov / Roman Elagin erreichen 10. Gesamtrang

Von seinem Beifahrer Roman Elagin navigiert, konnte Ilya Kuznetsov die fünfte und letzte Prüfung der Italian Baja auf der achten Position beenden. Nach dieser finalen Attacke konnte er sich im Ziel in Pordenone nach einer anspruchsvollen Veranstaltung auf dem zehnten Rang der Gesamtwertung behaupten. Auch der harte, sehr felsige Untergrund konnte dem SAM 35 CC nichts anhaben und er überstand die Baja ohne auch nur ein einziges Problem.
„Ist der Fahrer glücklich, sind auch wir glücklich und es sieht ganz danach aus!“, freut sich SAM-Boss Sven Knorr. „Für die wenigen Testkilometer vor dem Event, ist der 10. Gesamtrang eine Topleistung von Ilya und Roman. Wer weiß welche Platzierung mit mehr Test-Kilometern drin gewesen wäre.“

Ilya Kuznetsov / Roman Elagin snatches 10th place overall

Lead by his codriver Roman Elagin, Ilya Kuznetsov finished the fifth and last stage of the Italian Baja on eighth position. With this final attack the team claimed the tenth position overall of the Baja and crosses the finish line in Pordenone after a grueling rock-surfaced event without any problems in the car.
“We’re happy if our driver is happy and it looks like that!”, said SAM-Boss Sven Knorr. ”For the less kilometers of testing before the event, the 10th position overall is a very good result of Ilya and Roman. Who knows where they may finish in a possible second race with the SAM. “

Ilya Kuznetsov kämpft sich in Leg 2 vier Plätze nach vorn

Die zweite Etappe der Italian Baja is zu Ende und Ilya Kuznetsov fühlt sich im SAM 35 CC immer mehr zu Hause. Am Morgen von der 17. Position gestartet, erreicht er heute nach zwei guten Zeiten unweit der Top ten den dreizehnten Gesamtrang. Die Prüfungen wurden vom Organisator um einiges gekürzt, so dass nur noch 80 km im Renntempo zu absolvieren waren. Nicht einmal eine Stunde benötigten die Ersten für diese Speziale.
Die letzten zwei Prüfungen morgen gehen nochmals über die gleiche Distanz.

Ilya Kuznetsov catched four places in Leg 2

The Leg 2 of the Italian Baja 2012 is done and the SAM 35 CC fits more and more to the hands of Ilya Kuznetsov. Started from the 17th place in the morning the Russian claims the 13th position overall with two stage times not far away of the top ten.
The stages were reduced to 80 kilometers for both and so the competitors needed only nearly one hour to pass it.Tomorrow are the last two stages over the same distance like today.

17. Rang nach Prolog

Den ersten Prolog des Jahres beendete unser Team Ilya Kuznetsov und Roman Elagin auf dem 17. Gesamtrang. Bei einem kurzen nur 10 km langen Shakedown am Donnerstag ging Ilya das erste Mal mit dem SAM 35 CC auf Tuchfüllung. Durch einen kleinen Navigationsfehler, der ungefähr 30 Sekunden kostete, fiel das Team auf den 17. Rang zurück.
„Soweit ist alles ok. Das Auto läuft problemlos und wir warten gespannt auf den morgigen Tag“, resümiert Sven Knorr. In Leg 2 am Samstag erwarten die Teams 200 km Strecke, die ab 8:00 Uhr in Angriff genommen werden.

17th overall after the Prolog

The first prologue of the season our crew Ilya Kuznetsov and Roman Elagin finished 17th overall.
On Thursday morning the team runs out a little 10 km shakedown, where Ilya get in touch with the car for the first time.
Having a little mistake in navigation the team lost approx. 30 seconds to the leader and falls down the ranking to 17th.
“It’s ok so far. The car is running without any problems and we’re looking exited forward to tomorrow”, resumes Sven Knorr. In Saturday’s Leg 2 the teams will face with 200 km of stage starting at 8 o’clock in the morning.

FIA World Champion Ilya Kuznetsov starts with SAM-Mercedes

With the first race in 2012 FIA WORLD CUP FOR CROSS-COUNTRY RALLIES, the 19^th Italian Baja, also the new season for the SAM-team begins.

The Russian T2 World Champion of 2011, Ilya Kuznetsov lines up alongside his  co-driver Roman Elagin at the start of the Italian round of the off-road series at the wheel of the SAM 35 CC, prepared and run by the German SAM – team.

“We’re proud to support such an expired and successful crew throughout the Baja and are quite confident to aim a good result in this demanding race.” said SAM-boss Sven Knorr before the event.
